More than 20 estates will descend onto the Delvera agri-village to share their latest wines and way of life with a swarming crowd who wants to soak up the last bit of summer fun.
Young and old can delight in a fun-filled family day blended with the finest wines from the Simonsberg area, country food, craft stalls with proudly local produce, horse rides and live music entertainment by Newton & Co. The younger crowd will have barrels of fun in the play corner with go-cart rides; a trampoline; jungle gym, and a snake and reptile show.
Catering for both novices and seasoned wine enthusiasts, The Vineyard Connection has tailor-made four tutored wine classes which will be on offer at the market. These interactive and insightful wine tastings cost R50 per person and pre-bookings are essential. Loose lips and long legs take on a whole different meaning when the Greater Simonsberg sub-route of the Stellenbosch American Express® Wine Routes celebrates literary art and vinous culture during the 2013 Woordfees (Festival of the Word), and closes this festive chapter with a vibrant Market Day at Delvera Estate on Sunday, 10 March 2013.
Leading up to the buzzing Simonsberg Wine Route Market Day, esteemed wine estates jotted along the foot of the Simonsberg will be hosting exclusive Word & Wine celebrations on Friday, 8 March, during which literature fanatics can meet and mingle with some of the country’s finest authors and personalities in the company of quality wines.
These bespoke Word & Wine encounters feature Liz Meiring who will be adding her quirky flair to Uitkyk; Dana Snyman for some wit and wisdom at Neil Ellis Estate, and Stellenbosch author Karin Brynard who will be sharing the spotlight with Delheim wines, while South Africa’s famous ‘Oupa and Ouma’, Johan & Lida Botha will cater for some great story-telling at Muratie.
But if all you want to read is the back label of a quality bottle of wine and just chill out with your friends and family then the Simonsberg Wine Route Market Day, which takes place at the Delvera agri-village, is your ticket to soak up the last bit of summer Winelands fun.

Join in the fun of Movember, the world renowned health awareness campaign, at the Laborie Lazy Days Market on Saturday, 3 November, which promises to be a fun filled day for young and old.
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces around the world – the aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
Celebrating this worthy cause, men visiting the market are encouraged to show with their best moustaches (fake ones will also be accepted) with a prize awarded to the best one. A barber will be on hand to trim (or trim off) moustaches. Music will enhance the country theme of the market and promises to add to the festivities of the day.

Laborie Paarl Rock Trail Run 13 October 2012
Attention all running enthusiasts! Make your way to the picturesque Laborie Wine Farm on Saturday, 13 October for the annual Paarl Rock Trail Run event, in conjunction with the Drakenstein Municipality. Situated in the heart of the Paarl Winelands, Laborie is surrounded by vineyards set against the majestic Paarl Mountains.
Two distances will be offered from the farm onto the iconic Paarl Rock Reserve. Route choices on the day include a 20km lung and quad buster, and a 9km introduction into trail running with some fairly challenging climbs and great views. Master the art of preparing a chicken liver and roasted black mushroom risotto with pancetta and tomato confit. A tasty grilled calamari, rocket and crisp chorizo salad with peppadews, chorizo oil and coriander yoghurt dressing also forms part of this not-to-missed master class.
